Each year the East Central Illinois Chapter of AFP (ECIAFP) sponsors a National Philanthropy Day awards celebration to recognize outstanding philanthropists and volunteers in our area.

Award Categories

Outstanding Philanthropist Award

This award is presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, has demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement. Describe how the nominee fulfills the following.

Criteria:

  • Financial contribution supporting an organization in east central Illinois and nationally.
  • Specific achievements, such as new programs launched.
  • Encouragement and motivation to others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.
  • Participation in and support of other non-profit organizations in your community and nationally.

Lisa Mauney Outstanding Fund-Raising Executive Award

This award is designed for an outstanding individual fund raising executive who practices his/her profession in an exemplary manner. Describe how the nominee fulfills the following.

Criteria:

  • Length of fund raising background, experience and results. At least 5 years of professional fund raising experience required.
  • Quality leadership that is persuasive, effective, creative and stimulating, and that individual gives his/her best as a team player.
  • Individual practices and promotes the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices for fund raising executive.
  • Individual’s commitment to continuing professional development, including conference participation, articles published and oral presentations.
  • Commitment through voluntary services and financial support of non-profit organizations.

Outstanding Volunteer (Adult and Youth) Fund-Raiser Awards

The recipient should demonstrate exceptional skills in coordinating and motivating groups of volunteers for charitable institutions fund raising projects and a commitment to the advancement of philanthropy. Describe how the nominee fulfills the following.

Criteria:

  • Accomplishments, quality leadership and organizational ability in fund raising campaigns.
  • Participation in other non-profit organizations.
  • Proportionate financial results of his/her effort.

Outstanding Philanthropic Organization (Adult and Youth) Award

This award recognizes an Outstanding Philanthropic Organization (civic or service) for its record of financial support for worthwhile non-profit organizations in a community, state or nationally. Describe how the nominee fulfills the following.

Criteria:

  • Direct financial support.
  • Support of projects in your community or nationally.
  • Impact of financial support on above project(s).

Outstanding Foundation Award

This award recognizes an outstanding foundation for its philanthropic efforts in a community, state or nationally. Describe how the nominee fulfills the following.

Criteria:

  • Direct financial support indicated by support of projects/programs in your community and nationally.
  • Description of impact of financial support on above project(s).
  • Description of specific achievements, such as new programs launched through the organizations efforts.
  • Evidence of encouragement and motivation given to others to take leadership roles

Outstanding Corporation Award

This award recognizes an outstanding corporation for its philanthropic efforts in a community, state or nationally. Corporations that have foundations qualify for either this award OR the Outstanding Foundation Award, and can receive an award only once. Describe how the nominee fulfills the following.

Criteria:

  • Direct financial support by support of projects or programs in your community and nationally.
  • Impact of financial support on above project(s).
  • Specific achievements, such as new programs launched through the organizations efforts.
  • Evidence of encouragement and motivation given others to take leadership of roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.
  • Evidence of international philanthropic giving welcomed but not required.
